ARTURS AKOPJANS
Arturs Akopjans was born in 1969 in Armenia, and now lives and works in Riga, Latvia. In 1996, he graduated from The Latvian Academy of Arts. Since then he has exhibited at the best galleries in the Baltic countries and in Austria, as well as group exhibitions in Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Denmark and the UK.
Arturs creates intense and expressive paintings. His main area of expression is colour and abstract character, believing ‘everything is acceptable when it comes to art.' Through his painting, he is seeking to depict ‘a particular feeling of the moment, mood and thought.'
His work ranges from fully abstract to semi-abstract paintings, but it is his naive human and animal paintings that are particularly captivating and expressive, not least with the intense gaze from the figure's eyes. They never fail to capture the viewer's attention and imagination.
His highly recognisable paintings are now in many collections world wide from Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Armenia, Austria, Russia, the USA and the UK.
