MAEVE DIXON

ARTIST STATMEMENT
I grew up in Helensburgh, Argyll and now live and make art in Glasgow.
I enjoy working mainly in printmaking and in particular monoprinting. The process of monoprinting is similar to tracing which was a method used in the offices of many industries including architecture and engineering. My subject matter at present is landscapes and buildings that have an almost hidden history to them, sometimes I have a personal connection to the sites. I’m interested in the fragility of specific sites and the traces left behind by industry and people. I also wish to celebrate buildings that maybe have had the beauty of their architecture overlooked.
I work in arts and heritage as well as teaching and making prints by hand on my kitchen table.
